Status-by-status
Item booked - accepted at counter, in the system.
Item bagged - sealed into a mail bag headed to a sorting hub.
Item dispatched / in transit - moving between hubs; can sit here for days on long routes.
Item received at delivery office - reached your local PO.
Out for delivery - with the postman today.
Item delivered - signed/received.
Item returned / redirected - address problem or refusal; contact the delivery office fast.
When a parcel seems stuck
No scan for 3+ days is common between hubs - bags get scanned at receipt, not continuously. Past 5-7 days of silence, raise a complaint at cpgrams portal (grievance link in our Portals section) or call your delivery post office with the article number.
Delivery timelines
Speed Post typically runs 1-3 days metro-to-metro, 2-5 days to most towns, longer to remote PINs. Business Post, registered post and ordinary parcels move slower. The 'expected delivery' on tracking is indicative, not guaranteed.
Delivery failed - what next
If status shows attempted delivery or held at office, the article usually waits at the delivery PO for a limited window before returning to sender. Carry ID and collect in person, or call the office to reschedule.
