Department of Posts Orders Comprehensive Review and Rationalisation of Head Post Office Network Across Postal Circles
The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has directed all Postal Circles to undertake a comprehensive review and rationalisation of the existing Head Post Office (HO) network to improve operational efficiency and strengthen administrative and financial control.

The directive was issued through an official communication dated 27 October 2026, bearing reference No. Q-14/12/2026-PE-I-DOP. The initiative aims to reduce duplication of administrative and accounting functions, optimise manpower utilisation and ensure the financial sustainability of postal operations in the context of increasing digitisation and technology-enabled services.
